Bristol Churches City Fund: Food Poverty 2022

Food Poverty & Food Insecurity

Food poverty, and the broader issue of food insecurity, have been a sad reality for many in Bristol, with numbers increasing in recent years.

The impacts of the Covid-19 crisis have been hugely significant and are still rippling out. The emerging Cost-of-Living crisis puts further ongoing pressure on many people's lives across the city.

Therefore, it is vital to continue responding and contributing to projects that support those struggling to put food on their tables and feed their families.

Foodbanks continue to experience increasing demand, and their work alongside other community-based organisations/projects (food clubs, food pantries and community meal projects) needs more support.

The city benefits from significant food supplies through the work of FareShare South-West, alongside generous donations from the public, but the needs and the challenge are ongoing.
